Preparation for long multiplication: Multiply by decomposing first factor
This problem is a preparation for long multiplication, in which the first factor is broken down into multiples of powers of ten according to its decimal places.
The first given factor has two to three digits, the second factor is always in the range from two to nine. The decomposition is made into the two to three digits of the first factor. The multiplication is then carried out separately for each digit, and the intermediate results for the individual digits are then added up to form the total product.
If desired, the partial products, i.e. the decomposition, can be included in the task definition. An example task that can be turned on or off is illustrating the procedure.
The number of problems can also be set.
